Call for papers: NARS workshop, University of Copenhagen, September 14-15, 2023
CFP Workshop - Nordic Association for the Study of Romanticisms
The Nordic Association for the Study of Romanticisms (NARS) will host a major meeting to revitalize the forum. NARS has previously been very active when it comes to organising conferences, publishing a peer-reviewed journal (see https://tidsskrift.dk/rom/issue/archive and https://www.vr-elibrary.de/journal/jsor), and promoting Romantic studies in the Nordic countries. In recent years, NARS has been dormant, but past members and a new generation of researchers have for some time been calling for a revival of the association. We are now answering this call. We therefore cordially invite everyone in the Nordic countries working on Romanticism to participate in a workshop meeting where we can network, exchange ideas, and discuss plans for future Nordic collaboration.
- The event will be held: 14-15 September 2023, at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
We will meet for lunch at 12 noon, on 14 September. Everyone is invited to give a 10-minute presentation of current projects or ongoing work. We will conclude the meeting with a discussion of how we can advance the study of Romanticism and support research initiatives in the Nordic countries. As a secondary consideration, we will also discuss if there is interest in putting together a future volume of essays.
We also want the event to be about giving the participants the opportunity to talk and connect with one another. On the evening of Thursday 14 September, we will therefore go out for dinner and drinks. On the afternoon of Friday 15 September, there will be an optional free excursion to the Hirschsprung Collection, which is one of the finest museums in the Nordic countries for Romantic-period art. We will conclude our visit at 3pm, so everyone has time to get home for the weekend.
There is no fee for participation. NARS will sponsor lunches and coffee. For dinner on the 14th, each guest will be paying for a meal and beverages of his or her choice.
